An employee of the Institute of Zoology gave an interview to AZERTAC

Elshad Asgarov, the researcher of the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates of MSERA Institute of Zoology, gave an interview to AZERTAC on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Zangazur National Park.

According to E. Asgarov, the most stable population of leopard among mammals is in Nakhchivan. It was noted that within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, IDEA Public Union and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on the restoration of the leopard population, the leopard population is being monitored through photo-video traps installed in the Zangazur National Park in Nakhchivan: "Until now, nine leopards were born in front of cameras, grew up and spread to other areas. There are even those who went to Turkey - to the shores of the Black Sea. The birth of nine leopards is a significant event for the Caucasus region. Because the leopard was considered extinct in the Caucasus. Previously, those animals would come from Iran, stay for a short time, or return or go to other countries.
