Employees of the Institute of Zoology participated in a video conference entitled "Plant Health"

Employees of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS Ilhama Karimova, senior researcher of the Laboratory of Terrestrial Invertebrates, and Gulnaz Ismayilova, a researcher of the Center for Applied Zoology have participated in the video conference dubbed "Plant Health". Representatives of various institutes of ANAS and Baku Green Economy Union also took part in the event.

Opening the event, Jamal Guliyev, Advisor to the Chairman of the AQTA, said that the main problem was the re-discovery of the quarantine pest brown marble (Halyomorpha halys (Stål, 1855)) in the Absheron region and the cases of mass drying of coniferous trees, especially Leyland cypress. He spoke about the issue of making proposals on the current situation, and told about the drying of Eldar pine, ordinary pine, fir, Leyland cypress, especially in the suburbs of Baku and Absheron, the probable causes of drying, as well as indicated the main causes of drying in conifers as nematodes and Altervaria fungi, and the pests as a secondary cause.

Finally, it is going to hold further meetings to resolve these issues and establish a new subgroup.
