Terrestrial Invertebrate Laboratory

 The main purpose of the laboratory of "Terrestrial Invertebrate " at the Institute of Zoology of ANAS is to study the species composition, distribution, zoogeographical distribution of terrestrial invertebrates, as well as their economic importance, bioecological features of promising species, agriculture, various types of insects damaging park-ornamental plants. Study of the distribution, as well as the detection of biodiversity of entomophagous, which play a role in their quantitative regulation, their role in the quantitative regulation of pests, to determine their use in biological control.
Influence of various factors on the physiological state of insect populations, behavioral characteristics of the parasitoid-host complex, mathematical evaluation of the effectiveness of parasitoids, assessment of the role of economically important insects.

Research of terrestrial invertebrate fauna of Azerbaijan, biodiversity and bioecological features of sucking pests and their parasites and predators;

Study of biodiversity, insects belonging to various groups of terrestrial invertebrates on the basis of bioecological and molecular genetic studies, identification of economically significant species.

  Representatives of jewel beetles-(Buprestidae) 54 species; lacewings (Neuroptera) 30 species (7 species new to the fauna of Azerbaijan) geometrid moths (Geometridae) 47 species (11 species new to the fauna of Azerbaijan), dragonflies (Odonata) 12 species, harvestmen (Arachnida, Opiliones) 4 species, spiders (Arachnida: Araneae) 72 species. Of these, the species (Plexippus devorans (O. P.-Cambridge, 1872) is recorded for the first time in the fauna of the Caucasus. 39 species of Tetrapodili mites, of which 17 species are recorded for the fauna of Azerbaijan for the first time. Of the 8 species of Actinedid mites, 1 species (Neomolgus capillatus (Kramer, 1881) is recorded for the first time in the fauna of Azerbaijan. As a result of the analysis of pollen, the trophic relationships of 19 species of bumblebees (Hymenoptera, Apidae) from the Dashkesan-Gadabay zone were studied. In accordance with the distribution of bumblebees in biotopes, they can be divided into 4 groups: steppe (3 species), forest (9 species), meadow (13 species), eurytopic (5 species). The phenology of 19 species of bumblebees has been studied.
