January 11 is World Reserves and National Parks Day

On January 11, 1917, the Barguzin State Reserve was established on Lake Baikal for the first time in Russia in order to protect rare animals. Since 1997, this date has been celebrated annually at the initiative of the World Wildlife Fund.
There are 10 national parks and 10 state nature reserves in our country. Our national parks are located on the Absheron Peninsula, in the northern, southern and western parts of the country, covering colorful biodiversity and landscape complexes.
