ANAS approved the Action Plan on the Protection and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity

February 15, at a meeting of the Presidium of ANAS were issued tasks related to the activities envisaged in the "National Strategy for the Protection and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2017-2020 years" and their implementation in ANAS.

In his speech at the meeting, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that as a result of global climate change and the intensity of anthropogenic impact on the nature of the biological diversity is reduced, eliminated certain types of "This is a big threat to all life on Earth. To keep this position under control, there was a need to implement urgent measures to secure the protection, restoration and transmission to future generations of biological diversity, sustainable use of genetic resources and regulation of the ecological balance."

Head of ANAS noted that, along with other organizations, the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy, approved by the Decree of the President Ilham Aliyev dated October 3, 2016, and before the important tasks of ANAS have been put on the implementation of relevant activities. Academician Akif Alizadeh said that to ensure the work assigned to ANAS, was developed an Action Plan providing for the distribution of work between the structures of the Academy.

After discussions the Action Plan was approved by the Decree of the Presidium. Also, was established a working group for the collection and processing of information about the work carried out to implement the National Strategy, preparation of reports and their submission to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, ensuring coordination both within ANAS, and among the Academy and other performing organizations.
