Further reports were listened at the Scientific Council of the Institute of Zoology

On October 18, 2023, the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the MSE Institute of Zoology was held. Opening the meeting, Acting Director of the institute, Associate Professor Aladdin Eyvazov opened a conversation about the day of restoration of independence. He said that the Day of Restoration of Independence, or the National Independence Day as it was called in its old name, is one of the most important days in the history of Azerbaijan. From 2021, it will be celebrated under its new name as "Independence Restoration Day" (on October 18). As a result of the historical conditions created by the collapse of the USSR at the end of the 20th century, the state of Azerbaijan regained its independence for the second time. On October 8, 1991, the extraordinary session of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan, which began its work, held discussions for 4 days. Finally, on October 18, 1991, the Constitutional Act on State Independence, a historical document, was adopted at the session of the Supreme Soviet. At that time, 231 of the 360 deputies of the Supreme Soviet voted in favor of the act, the rest either did not participate in the session or did not vote against it. The Constitutional Act states that the independent state of Azerbaijan is the legal successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic that existed in 1918-1920. The Constitutional Act consists of 6 chapters and 32 articles. On December 29, 1991, the issue was discussed in a national referendum, and 95% of the population participated in the voting and voted for the country's independence, sovereignty and independence. After the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence, laws on the national flag, anthem and coat of arms were adopted. According to the law "On Independence Day" adopted by the Milli Majlis on October 15, 2021, May 28 was declared Independence Day, and October 18 was declared Independence Day.
At the beginning of the meeting, the annual reports of the laboratories of the institute were listened. Thus, Barat Ahmadov, PhD in Biology, Assoc. Prof., delivered a lecture on the annual report of the Applied Zoology Center, PhD in Biology, Süleyman Süleymanov on the annual report of the Hydrobiology laboratory, and PhD in Biology Shafa Khasayeva on the annual report of the Education Department. After the speakers’ detailed information about the laboratory activity in the current year, scientific research carried out by the laboratory staff during the year and their main results were informed.
Later, scientific secretary of the institute, PhD in Biology, Assoc. Prof. Sara Aliyeva delivered a lecture on granting the title of Associate Professor to Lala Rahimli in 2413.01- "Entomology" specialty.
