Institute of Zoology held the defense of the dissertation on the PhD

On May 20, 2022, at the FD 1.09 Dissertation Council operating under the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, a researcher of the Laboratory of Terresterial Invertebrates Tamara Vagif gyzy Nuruyeva's PhD dissertation "Spiders of Gobustan territory of Azerbaijan (Arachnida: Araneae): fauna, bioecology" on the specialty "Zoology" was held. The scientific supervisors of the research work are Dr. Biology, Associate Professor Snegovaya Natalya Yuryevna and Dr. Biology Elchin Fuzuli oglu Huseynov.

The event was opened by the Executive Director of the Institute of Zoology, Chairman of the Dissertation Council, Dr. Biology Elshad Ahmadov gave the floor to the applicant to report. According to her, 2 out of 282 species of spiders mentioned in Gobustan are new to science. Nuruyeva stressed that the research has made a significant contribution to the study of spider fauna in both Gobustan and Azerbaijan as a whole, and that the information obtained can be used in the preparation and creation of a regional catalog of spiders by increasing the number of known species in Azerbaijan's araneofauna.

At the end of the meeting, members of the Dissertation Council praised the research work highly, noting that the work meets the requirements of the dissertations put by Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
