| Main scientific results: | Fifty two (52) species of the scale and false scale insects Coccidae (Homoptera, Coccoidea) have been comprehensively investigated In Azerbaijan for the first time. 11 species of 33 species of scales are new for the fauna of Azerbaijan. Nineteen (19) species of false scales were revealed. Of these 8 species are found for the first time in the fauna of Azerbaijan. Thirty (30) species of aphelinids (Hymenoptera, Aphelinidae), belonging to 9 genera are found to be regulators of scale population deensities. Among them 1 species - Coccobius granati Yasnosh and Mustafaeva is new to science, and 6 species are new for the fauna of Azerbaijan. Twenty eight (28) species of chalcids (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea), parasites of false scales, were recognized, including 11 species of aphelinids (Hymenoptera, Aphelinidae), 16 species of encyrtids (Hymenoptera, Encyrtidae), and 1 species of pteromalids (Pteromalidae). One species of pteromalids, 4 species of aphelinids, and 4 entsertid species are new for the fauna of Azerbaijan. Aphelinid Coccophagus insidiator is new to the fauna of the southern Caucasus. Six (6) species, 5 apelinids and 1eulophid (Hy-menoptera, Eulophidae) are paresites of whiteflies. The methods of massrearing of coccinellid beetles, Rhyzobius lophanthae and Chilocorus bipustulatus, playing an important role in regulation of density of scale insect populations were developed. We have developed a technique of mass production of the parasites Aphytis maculicornis against Parlatoria oleae, and Aphytis chilensis, Aphytis proclia against Aspidiotus nerii and Pseudaulacaspis pentagona. The method of breeding of parasites Encarsia aurantii, Aphytis mytilaspidis, Aspidiotiphagus citrinus against scale insects was worked out. We studied the biological features, as well as the technique of mass reproduction of the parasite Encarsia partenopea effective against whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum. Also, the method of mass breeding of the parasite Aphidius colemani, Aphidius evri against aphids was developed. |
