A regional course has been organized at the Institute of Genetic Resources

A regional course on "Identification, definition and accreditation of genetically modified organisms in accordance with the ISO standard (17025)" was organized at the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS (IGR).

The 5-day course is attended by academics and experts from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, National Academy of Sciences and Universities.

During the course, theoretical lectures on the gene-modified organisms (GMO) biosafety systems, legislation and GMOs at the molecular level will be read during the course, as well as practical experiences will be carried out in the GMO and RealTime PCR.

In addition, discussions will be held on improving the biodiversity legislation in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, creating genetic modification or creating a biosafety system for genetically modified organisms. They will also focus on cooperation with European specialized reference laboratories on GMOs and local and international accreditation of relevant laboratories in Azerbaijan.
