Institute of Zoology held a commemorative event on the 32nd anniversary of the "Khojaly Genocide"

On February 26, 2024, an event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, organized jointly by the MSE Institute of Zoology Women's Council, the New Azerbaijan Party, and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, dubbed "GENOCIDE UNLIKED IN HISTORY" was held. The event commenced with a silent commemoration of the Khojaly genocide victims.

Opening the event Executive Director of the institute, Associate Professor, Dr. Elshad Ahmadov emphasized that the Khojaly genocide directed against the people of Azerbaijan is an act of brutality in human history with its unimaginable cruelty and inhuman methods of punishment, and at the same time, it is a historical crime against all humanity. Khojaly genocide is a genocide committed against the ethnic Azerbaijanis on the night of February 25-26, 1992, when the Armenian armed forces occupied the city of Khojaly with the participation of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of Russia. This tragedy is one of the most terrible events that happened during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. During this genocide, the Azerbaijani people gave hundreds of martyrs, he noted. 

Later in the event, the Chairman of the first Party Organization of YAP Yasamal District "504th Neighborhood Area", PhD Hafiz Mukhtarov, Associate Professor, Dr. Tahir Karimov, PhDs Hajiyeva and Saliga Gazi shared their bitter memories of this history.

At the end of the event, a video depicting the Khojaly genocide was shown.
