An employee of the Institute of Zoology interviewed to Medianews.az

Tahir Karimov, Dr. Biology,  head researcher of the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates of MSERA Institute of Zoology, interviewed to Medianews.az about the increase of bird flocks in the sky of Baku.

According to the biologist, rooks are sedentary birds in Azerbaijan: "These birds build nests in groups of trees at the foothills of the regions. Sometimes there are 20-40 nests in one tree. During winter, those birds fly from the mountainous regions to the plains, including the city of Baku. In the capital area, the climate is suitable for these birds, and there is a feed base. The first requirement for all living things is food. Depending on the cooling of the weather, rooks begin to appear in the sky of Baku from October and November to meet their needs. In March, they leave the territory of Baku city and return to their nests.
