Institute of Zoology held the defense of the dissertation on the doctorate of philosophy

On March 18, 2022, in the FD 1.09-Dissertation Council of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, doctoral student of the Protozoology Laboratory of the institute Ilaha Faiz gizi Mansimova defended her PhD thesis on specialty 2401.01 - "Zoology"  on topic  "Diversity of free-living infusors of plankton and benthos of Devechi port and their role in trophic chains". The scientific supervisor of the dissertation is Dr. Biology Ilham Khayyam oglu Alakbarov, Dr. Biology, Professor, corresponding member of ANAS, and the official opponents - Dr. Biology, Associate Professor Vafa Farman gizi Mammadova, Dr. Biology, Associate Professor Asif Abbas oglu Manafov, and PhD in Biology, Associate Professor Irada Ali gizi Suleymanova.
Opening the event, Executive Director of the Institute of Zoology, Chairman of the Dissertation Council, Ph.D. Elshad Ahmadov gave the floor to the applicant to report. I. Mansimova said that the subject and object of the study is the study of free-living infusors of Lake Aghzibir, their species diversity and ecology, as well as the food relationship of these primates with small multicellular plankton and benthic organisms. She noted that out of 169 species of free-living infusors discovered during the first research in Azerbaijan, 34 species were registered for the first time for the fauna of the Caspian Sea.
At the end of the meeting, members of the Dissertation Council praised the research work, noting that the work meets the requirements of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
