A meeting with celebrate specialists in Plant Genetic Resources

Director of the institute of Genetic Resources, corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akperov received Dr. Mahammad Favzi Navar, a leading specialist of Genetic Resources Department at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and polish scientist, a celebrate specialist in registering plant genetic resources - Dr. Yan Konopka.

The meeting, which took place with the support of the International Trust Fund for PGR aimed to renovate information system and database of Azerbaijan for PGR, and the National Gene Bank, to launch high-qualified working computer server, which donated by Fund to the institute, and to present information system by ICARDA, meeting modern requirements.

During the six-day visit, the guests together with a senior specialist of International Relations, Information and Coordination Department of the institute, Manager of National Gene Bank Database Ilhama Mirzaliyeva carried out work to further improve of a current base and infrastructure changes over the old system due to integrate into the newly established base. The process of transferring the data to the new system has already begun. It is the database of the National Gene Bank and the further development of modern information technologies creates an opportunity for the integration of networks.

Field crops tablet, barcode printers and scanner were presented to the Institute of National Gene Bank by ICARDA.
