In accordance with the Action Plan prepared for the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13) — to  be held in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026 — a new awareness‑raising event was carried out by the staff of the Institute of Living Systems Research. The event was organized at Secondary School No. 158 in the capital in line with Clause 2.1 of the Action Plan approved by Decree No. 621 of 5 June 2025 by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the meeting, Leyla Ahmadli, a representative of the Institute of Living Systems Research, delivered a comprehensive presentation for the students on the topic “Dynamics of Fauna Diversity in the Context of Urbanization.”

In her presentation, the concept of “Dynamics of fauna diversity in the context of urbanization” was explained in detail, describing how urbanization processes affect the number, composition, distribution, and behavioral characteristics of animal species. It was noted that urbanization leads to changes in natural habitats, influencing trends in increases or decreases in fauna diversity, as well as transformations in the functional roles of species within ecosystems.

Special emphasis was placed on the students’ interest in the biological sciences. The institute’s staff also offered the youth advice on how to engage in scientific research, discussed career opportunities in this field, and highlighted the role of the younger generation in nature conservation.
