Institute of Zoology held an event on "World Civil Defense Day" on March 1

An event dedicated to “World Civil Defense Day” was held at the Zoology Institute on 27 February 2026. The event was opened by Anar Aliyev, Chief of the Civil Defense Headquarters, who delivered a report on “World Civil Defense Day.”

He explained that civil defense is an important state system that ensures the protection of the population and territories during emergencies. Its main purpose is to safeguard people’s lives and health and minimize material losses during natural disasters, technological accidents, fires, earthquakes, floods, and other hazards.

Within the framework of civil defense, preventive measures are taken, the population is educated, evacuation plans are prepared, and rescue forces and equipment are kept in constant readiness. The speaker also noted that organizing recovery and relief operations after emergencies is one of the key responsibilities of civil defense, and he provided the staff with detailed information about “World Civil Defense Day.”
