Institute of Zoology commemorated National Leader Heydar Aliyev

On December 8, 2025, a meeting was held at the Institute of Zoology dedicated to the commemoration of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The event commenced with the performance of the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a one-minute silence to honor the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The meeting was opened by the Acting Director of the institute, Dr., Associate Professor Elshad Ahmadov, who presented to the participants the issues on the agenda.

In his remarks on the occasion of the commemoration of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, E. Ahmadov stated that the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev — the architect and founder of modern Azerbaijan, who accomplished tremendous and irreplaceable deeds for the independence and development of his people and state — is a great personality we will always remember with pride and deep respect. He added that Heydar Aliyev, who resolved decisive issues of fate for our nation and state, was not only a great historical figure but also a person who forged history. The meaningful life path of the National Leader, along with his rich and multifaceted heritage, is an inexhaustible school of life. The people of Azerbaijan forever remember his memory with deep reverence. The Great Leader, who earned eternal distinction through his exceptional services, laid indelible marks in the destiny and history of our people — and will always live on in our national memory as a great statesman and savior of the nation.

Later, the head of the local branch of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), Ph.D. Hafiz Mukhtarov, in his speech noted that when speaking about Heydar Aliyev’s services to our state and people, the first thing that comes to mind is his mission of salvation. He underscored that both periods of the Great Leader’s rule embodied this mission. It is always emphasized that Heydar Aliyev’s rich life path and extraordinary activity — at every stage — complemented each other, and served as a living embodiment of strong bonds with his people, loyalty to the ideology of national statehood, and deep commitment to the nation. According to him, the first period of Heydar Aliyev’s rule is among the brightest pages in the record of building Azerbaijan. The decisive steps he took back then to restore historical memory served to revive the national spirit, ensure self-awareness and return to roots, and laid the foundation stones for the path to building an independent state.

In his remarks, the head of the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates, PhD Tavakkul Isgandarov, spoke about the incomparable services Heydar Aliyev rendered to our homeland and people during all periods of his leadership of the republic.
