Institute of Zoology hosted for an event dubbed "Say No to Drug Addiction"

On October 22, 2025, within the framework of the implementation of the “Work Plan for 2025 of the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking,” an event titled “Say No to Drug Addiction” was held at the Institute of Zoology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, bringing together the young staff, the Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, Leyla Nadirli, spoke about the harms of drug addiction, its dangers to human health, and the dependency it causes.

Then, the junior researcher of the Institute’s Zoological Museum, Khatira Gahramanli, addressed one of the most painful and distressing problems of modern times—drug addiction, emphasizing it a growing global issue, particularly among youth and adolescents.

Afsana Ismayilova, a senior laboratory assistant of the Terrestrial Vertebrates Laboratory, delivered a speech as well. She explained how drug addiction poisons the body and how the use of narcotic substances leads to the physical and psychological destruction of a person.

Other employees of the Institute also made informative speeches about the problems and consequences caused by narcotic and other psychotropic substances.

The event concluded with the screening of a video clip.
