The employees of MSERA Institute of Zoology were on an expedition

From June 10 to 16, employees of MSE RA Institute of Zoology were in an expedition. The team included - Barat Ahmadov, head of the Center for Applied Zoology; leading scientists Irada Nuriyeva and Ilhama Safarova; and senior researcher Saliga Gazi. They conducted fieldwork in Sheki, Goychay, and Aghdash districts.

During the expedition in the Sheki region, inspections were carried out in hazelnut orchards, household plots, forests, and parks. At Green Factory LLC’s Agro Park in Orta Zayzid village of Sheki district, as well as several private farms, fruit trees and shrubs were examined. Together with Talat Mehdiyev, director of the Sheki State Agro‑Development Center under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and other colleagues, they monitored the brown marble wood borer, checked pheromone traps placed in orchards, and determined that the pest had not yet appeared in the region. They also met with Yusif Shukurlu, director of the ANAS Sheki Regional Scientific Center, and his staff to discuss the brown marble wood borer.

In Garabakkal and Bıghır villages of Goychay region, pheromone traps were set up in pomegranate orchards, and local farmers were informed about the pest.

Similarly, in the orchards of Leki in Aghdash district, pheromone traps were installed and conversations were held with farm workers.
