Republican scientific‑practical conference dubbed “CURRENT ISSUES IN BIODIVERSITY, MODERN PERSPECTIVES AND RESEARCH" kicked off

A two‑day republican scientific‑practical conference titled “CURRENT ISSUES IN BIODIVERSITY, MODERN PERSPECTIVES AND RESEARCH” was kicked off. 

On June 17, under the auspices of the Institute of Zoology of MSE RA, the opening ceremony of the republican scientific‑practical conference “CURRENT ISSUES IN BIODIVERSITY, MODERN PERSPECTIVES AND RESEARCH” took place. The event began with the performance of the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

General Director of the institute, Dr. Agrarian sciences, Associate Professor Aladdin Eyvazov opened the conference with an introductory speech and delivered a lecture on “CURRENT ISSUES IN BIODIVERSITY, MODERN PERSPECTIVES AND RESEARCH,” officially declaring the conference open. In his remarks, he referred to the general issues of biodiversity in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems against the backdrop of global climate change, the efficient use of fauna resources, challenges related to biological invasions, and pertinent matters concerning parasite fauna in animals within natural ecosystems.

Next, the Vice‑President of the ANAS and Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, greeted the attendees and wished the conference success. She spoke about the rich biodiversity of Azerbaijan, efforts in its conservation and study, and the topical issues being addressed. She also emphasized the importance of preventing the decline and extinction of animal and plant species, and discussed approaches to resolving these global challenges.

Present at the event were: Director of the Institute of Microbiology of ANAS and Corresponding Member of ANAS, Panah Muradov; Head of the Department of Zoology and Physiology at Baku State University, Associate Professor Abulfaz Taghiyev; Doctor of Biology, Professor Janbakhish Najafov; Professor Aziz Eftekhari; as well as international guests joining via Zoom — Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries at Fırat University, Professor Dr. Kenan Kopruju; Dr. Shabnam Farzali from Fırat University; and Associate Professor Aleksandr Vasilyevich Borodin, Head of the “Phylogenetics and Biochronology” Laboratory of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg). They all delivered presentations and extended their wishes for the success of the conference.
