Hydrobiology Laboratory employees on an expedition to the Kuraghzi and Gizilaghaj areas of the Caspian Sea

The head of the Hydrobiology Laboratory of the MSERA Institute of Zoology, Ph.D., Associate Professor S.Sh. Suleymanov, and a junior researcher I.Sh. Samadli, conducted monitoring in the coastal waters of the Kuraghzi and Gizilaghaj areas of the Caspian Sea on 06-07.11.2024 in order to implement the relevant item of the Action Plan related to the 2024 "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the monitoring, along with other fish, a small number of Caspian salmon babies were encountered. Along with the fish belonging to the older age group also fell into the drag net. It should be noted that, according to information from amateur fishermen, Caspian salmon also occasionally fall into their nets. During monitoring, it was determined that as a result of Global Climate Change, the level of the Caspian Sea has decreased, which is why there are few juvenile fish in the coastal zones of the Caspian. They prefer the deeper layers of the sea.

The materials obtained during the research are currently being thoroughly processed in the laboratory.
