Halyomorpha halys Stal pest on the pomegranate plant recorded by the employees of the Applied Zoology Center of the Institute of Zoology

For the first time, Halyomorpha halys Stal pest on the pomegranate plant was recorded by the employees of the Applied Zoology Center of the Institute of Zoology.

According to the information provided by the employees of the Center of Applied Zoology of the MSE RA Institute of Zoology - Barat Ahmadov, Irada Nuriyeva, Ilhama Safarova and Saliga Gazi, the Brown marble weevil (Halyomorpha halys Stal.) pest was recorded on the pomegranate plant for the first time in Absheron territory.

Currently, the pomegranate tree is widely cultivated in the South Caucasus. Pomegranate gardens have been planted in a number of regions of Azerbaijan, and crab pomegranates are also found in forests and mountain slopes. In this regard, the feeding of the pest on pomegranate can pose a serious threat to pomegranate orchards. Therefore, it is very important to take timely and effective countermeasures.
