The employees of the Applied Zoology Center were on an expedition in Buzovna, Mardakan and Zira settlements of Absheron

In accordance with the Action Plan of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the employees of the Applied Zoology Center of the MSE RA Institute of Zoology has organized an expedition to the areas of Buzovna, Mardakan and Zira settlements of Absheron in the second half of May to collect research materials related to the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae Rossi, 1790) and the olive psyllid (Euphyllura olivine Costa, 1839) and study of bioecological characteristics and its entomophages, including monitoring was carried out in the olive groves located in the areas, as well as in the olive plants growing in the Yasamal park and on the roadsides. During the monitoring, the olive psyllid - Euphyllura olivina (Costa, 1839) and the olive fruit fly - Bactrocera oleae (Rossi, 1790) were found on olive plants in some areas. Materials related to pests and their entomophages were collected and brought to the laboratory for species identification and monitoring of some of their bioecological characteristics. Observational and experimental studies are ongoing.
