Employees of the Applied Zoology Center visited Gabala and Agdash regions on an expedition

Head of Applied Zoology Center Barat Ahmadov, leading researchers - Irada Nuriyeva, Ilhama Safarova, junior researchers - Saliga Gazi, Zinyat Shahverdiyeva, senior laboratory assistant Ulkar Guliyeva visited Gabala and Agdash regions.
During the expedition, hazel orchards, courtyards, trees and bushes in forests and parks of Savalan, Zirik, Zaragan, Mammadagali, Malikli villages and Vandam settlement of Gabala region were inspected, powdery mildew disease was widespread on hazelnut leaves and Phylus coryli Poecilimon sp nymphs from Miridae family were found on hazelnut bushes. In addition, the hazel moth - Myzocallis coryli (Hemiptera, Aphididae) was found in the hazelnut leaves. The entomophages of these insects were found in larvae of different ages of Coccinella septempunctata, as well as in different types of spiders. The brown marble tree was not found in the observed areas of Gabala region.

Meanwhile, the researchers inspected the grape growing areas of Ashagi Leki, Pirkeke, Kotanarkh villages of Agdash region, collected caterpillars and pupae of some pests of grape plants. A marble beetle, unknown larvae and caterpillars, some spiders were found in the fields, images of various butterflies were also collected using a special net. The collected materials were placed in entomological containers, labeled and brought to the laboratory.

Research on the materials is currently ongoing.
