The conference on "Protection of biodiversity in Azerbaijan" and the presentation of the 3rd edition of the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On May 23, a conference entitled "Protection of biodiversity in Azerbaijan" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and a presentation of the 3rd edition of the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in the main building of ANAS.

President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Chairman of the Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Committee of the AR Milli Majlis Sadig Gurbanov, Head of the UN Resident Liaison Office in Azerbaijan Kanako Mabuchi, MPs, ambassadors, relevant persons and media representatives participated at the event.

Before the conference, wreaths and bouquets of flowers were placed in front of the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the main building of ANAS, and his memory was honored. Later, an exhibition of publications and paintings prepared within the framework of the event was viewed.

The event began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Then a video dedicated to the "Red Book" was shown.

Speaking at the conference, the President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbayli, said that the 3rd edition of the two-volume "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan created by the employees of ANAS and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources based on the Decree of the head of the country is one of the significant events of "Year of Heydar Aliyev" and an important contribution of both institutions to the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that in Azerbaijan, which has a very rich nature and centuries-old history, the protection of natural resources, environmental protection, organization of nature protection, further enrichment of biodiversity in our country has been systematically implemented since the first years of the reign of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and today is being successfully continued by the President Ilham Aliyev.

Stating that the creation of national parks, nature reserves and prohibitions in our country are innovations brought to the history of Azerbaijan by the era of Heydar Aliyev - Ilham Aliyev, the head of ANAS said that many official documents and decisions have been adopted in the direction of protection and preservation of nature in our country during the past period. Academician Isa Habibbeyli pointed out that the programs and projects implemented at the initiative of the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva play an important role in the protection and development of biodiversity in our country, and the role of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the IDEA Public Union in this direction should be specially noted. The President of ANAS said that the protection of biodiversity in Azerbaijan has become both a way of life and a state policy of great strategic importance.
