March 22 - World Water Day

The first proposal to hold World Water Day or World Water Resources Day was made in June 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to the decision of the UN General Assembly dated February 22, 1993, it was started to be celebrated.

This year, the UN's focus is on accelerating change to address the water and sanitation crisis. The global campaign encourages people to take action in their lives to change the way they use, consume and manage water.
