The annual report meeting of the Institute of Zoology

The scientific council of the Institute of Zoology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a report meeting on the results of the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the said scientific institution in 2022.

Vice-president of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, General Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education, corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov, participated in the meeting as well.

Academician Irada Huseynova opened the event and in accordance with the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev "On some measures related to the improvement of management in the field of science and education in the Republic of Azerbaijan" dated July 28, 2022, a number of scientific institutions and organizations under the ANAS, including the Science Institute of Zoology and touched on the issue of transfer to the Ministry of Education and expressed hope that the institute will successfully continue its activities in the new era.

Then, Academician Irada Huseynova gave the floor for the presentation of the report on the results of the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Institute of Zoology in 2022.

Aladdin Eyvazov said that in the current year, scientific research works were carried out in 1 direction, 4 problems, 10 topics, 33 works and 103 stages at the Institute of Zoology, and several important results were achieved.

In the reporting year, 67 articles, 61 theses, 2 monographs, 1 catalog, 1 textbook were published by the employees of the institute, and 1 book was submitted for publication. Of them, 60 articles and 23 theses were published in foreign journals. 38 of the published articles were included in international index databases, 35 were published in "Web of Science" and "Scopus", 1 in ULAKBIM, and 2 in AGRIS databases. 9 of the journals, where the articles are published have an impact factor. During the year, the institute's articles were cited 237 times and one patent was obtained. Employees of the institute delivered lectures at domestic and foreign conferences.

The speaker noted that currently 14 ddissertators, 2 part-time doctoral students, 2 full-time, 1 part-time doctoral student, 3 dissertators are conducting scientific research at the institute, and 3 are studying for a master's degree. In the current year, 8 defenses were held for the preparation of Ph.D. In the reporting year, 8 doctoral students and dissertators defended their theses on the doctoral training program.

Then speeches were made on the institute's annual report, preparation of the third edition of the "Red Book" of Azerbaijan, staff training, recruiting young people to science, improving the quality of research and other issues were exchanged. Corresponding member of ANAS Ilham Alakbarov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Shaig Ibrahimov, Doctors of Biological Sciences Asif Manafov, Gara Fataliyev, Mahir Huseynov, Ph.D. in Biological Sciences Tavakkul Iskandarov, Reyhan Ibrahimova participated in the discussions.

Finally, Academician Irada Huseynova concluded the discussions and gave her tasks and recommendations on a number of issues.

The scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the institute in the reporting year was satisfactorily assessed and relevant decision was made.
