An employee of the Institute of Zoology was on the expedition

Acting Chief of the Paleozoological Laboratory, PhD in Biology K.A. Tapdigova was on an expedition on May 31-June 6, 2022, in Mingachevir, Yevlakh and Samukh districts on the topic "Study of zooplankton of Mingachevir and Varvara reservoirs."

During the expedition, materials were collected from 4 parts of the reservoir (river, semi-lake, lake, Khanabad Bay) using both the shoreline of the reservoirs and a motor boat to collect zooplankton samples from the Mingachevir reservoir. Quality samples were taken from silt (Khanabad Bay), sand and stone biotopes (bays), silt-sand, plant biotopes in the coastal strip of Mingachevir reservoir.

In addition, to determine the role of zooplankton in the biocenosis, the contents of the cracked stomach were examined under a light microscope and a magnifying glass after taking fish samples (carp, bream, pseudophoxinus, sander) from the Varvara Reservoir.

Currently, the analysis of samples in laboratory conditions is underway.
