Institute of Zoology held a commemorative event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the January 20 tragedy

On January 18, 2022, in the library of the Institute of Zoology, a commemorative event in hybrid form was held on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the January 20 tragedy.

In advance, the participants of the event observed a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the bloody January tragedy.
Opening the event, Executive Director of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, Dr. Biology Associate Professor Elshad Ahmadov noted that the bloody January tragedy was a day of national pride and sorrow in the history of Azerbaijan. Speaking about the bloody massacre committed by Soviet troops in Azerbaijan, E. Ahmadov said that despite the passage of many years, our people have not forgotten the pain of those terrible days.
Later, the chairman of the YAP territorial organization Ph.D. Hafiz Mukhtarov, Head of Parasitology Laboratory  Dr. Biology., Associate Professor Gara Fataliyev, Head of Terresterial Vertebrates Laboratory Dr. Biology, Associate Professor Giyas Guliyev, Leading Researcher of Hydrobiology Laboratory Ph.D.., Associate Professor Shukur Guliyev, Ph.D. Tavakkul Isgandarov and Saliga Gazi, a researcher at the Center for Applied Zoology, spoke about the January 20 tragedy and shared their bitter memories.

At the end of the event, a video clip reflecting the bloody January events was displayed.
