An employee of the Institute of Zoology visited the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea

The leading researcher of the Hydrobiology Laboratory of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, Ph.D. in Biology, Associate Professor Suleyman Suleymanov participated at the Complex Ecological Monitoring Expedition organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the research vessel "Alif Hajiyev" in order to study the species composition and condition of sturgeon and other species in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, as well as to obtain the necessary information to assess the current environmental situation in the Caspian Sea, July 16-25, 2021 and August 7-10, 2021.
During the expedition, ichthyological samples were collected from 55 stations consisting of 11 sections.

Noted that a strong eutrophication was observed in the South Caspian Sea. For the first time, a comb jelly - Beroe Ovata was found in the Gizilaghaj basin during the monitoring.
