An article by an employee of the Institute of Zoology was published in a foreign journal

The article dubbed "Reducing persecution is more effective for restoring large carnivores than restoring their prey" co-authored by Elshad Asgarov, a researcher of the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, was published in the impact-factor journal "Ecological Applications". The article discusses models for increasing the number of rare and endangered large mammals in the Caucasus. The models show that 1,000 (one thousand) individuals can survive in the Caucasus region and northern Iran (737,000 sq km) for the next hundred years by restoring leopard populations, provided they prevent hunting and increase their fodder base.

Noted that Elshad Asgarov had co-authored 3 books and 11 articles during the pandemic, and submitted three more articles for publication. Only one of these works was published in high-ranking journals in Azerbaijan and the rest abroad.
