The next dissertation defense was held at the Institute of Zoology

On May 21, in the FD 1.09-Dissertation Council of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, the defense of the dissertation work submitted by the scientific researcher of the institute Shafa Ilgar gizi Khasayeva for the degree of Ph.D. in Biology was held. The scientific supervisor of the research work "Fauna and ecology of spiders (Arachnida, Araneae) of Ganja-Gazakh region" is Doctor of Biological Sciences Elchin Huseynov, official opponents are Doctors of Biological Sciences - Asif Manafov, Vafa Mammadova and Doctor of Biological Sciences Irada Suleymanova.
Opening the event, Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Zoology, Chairman of the Dissertation Council, Doctor of Biological Sciences Elshad Ahmadov noted that the dissertation has been successfully presented at conferences in local and foreign countries, the results of scientific research have been published in many foreign journals. She is the author of a total of 15 scientific papers, including 11 articles and 4 theses, in journals included in the index databases.
Then, Shafa Khasayeva provided detailed information about the dissertation on "Zoology" and delivered a lecture on the species composition, taxonomic structure, ecological features of species, distribution patterns of landscapes, the results of zoo technical analysis of the fauna of Ganja-Gazakh region. She noted that spider fauna of Ganja-Gazakh region compiles 325 species of spiders belonging to 144 genera in 30 families, 6 of which are new for Caucasian fauna, 1 genus and 9 species are new for Azerbaijani fauna, and 195 species for spider fauna of Ganja-Gazakh region.
The research work was highly appreciated by the members of the Dissertation Council and it was stated that the candidate deserved the degree of Ph.D. in Biology.
