The dissertation was discussed at the Institute of Zoology

On April 29, Institute of Zoology of ANAS hosted the discussion of dissertation work dubbed “Fauna and ecology of minor terrestrial vertebrates in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” by the leading researcher of the Institute of Bioresources of the Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS, Ph.D. in Biology Assoc. Prof. Arzu Farman oglu Mammadov. The supervisor of the current work is the corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Ilham Alakbarov, reviewers - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Academician Eldar Rustamov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, corresponding member of ANAS Saleh Maharramov, Doctor of Biological sciences Rauf Hajiyev.
Providing detailed information about the dissertation, Arzu Mammadov has lectured about species composition of the fauna of minor terrestrial vertebrates in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, their distribution patterns, number, status, indicator rate, prospects for utilization, etc. He noted that 3 reptile species, 23 bird species, and one subspecies were registered for the first time in the autonomous republic, of which one reptile, 4 bird species, and 1 subspecies are new to the Azerbaijani fauna.
Relied to the results of the research, a total of 46 scientific works were published in several domestic and foreign journals. Of these, 17 scientific papers have been published in prestigious foreign journals.
Finally, as a result of the open voting of the seminar members, it was accepted to submit the dissertation by Arzu Mammadov for the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences in 2401.01 - "Zoology" to the dissertation council for defense.
