Organized a webinar dubbed "Threat of bird flu in Azerbaijan: foci of infection and preventive measures"

On April 16, Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS and the Institute of Zoology organized a webinar dubbed "Threat of bird flu in Azerbaijan: foci of infection and preventive measures." The main goal of the event was the migration routes of migratory birds through the country, as well as the impact of the presence of permanent and temporary habitats of these birds in the country on the likelihood of bird flu, assessment of infectious foci, and development of preventive measures against this disease.
Opening the event, organized online on the Zoom platform, Aladdin Eyvazov, Acting Director of the Institute of Zoology, Ph.D. in Agrarian sciences, greeted the participants and spoke about the great damage caused by bird flu to both human life and the economy. Representatives of relevant institutes of ANAS, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, and the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan also reported at the webinar. The speakers told about the natural reservoirs of the bird flu virus, recombination, and mutation, cases of infection, its incubation period and ecology, the selection of appropriate prevention and disinfection to prevent infection.

Finally, the reports were widely discussed and questions were responded to.
