Institute of Zoology holds events related to "Science Day"

Taking into account the importance of science in the development of society, according to the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on the establishment of "Science Day" in our country, March 27 is celebrated as "Science Day" in Azerbaijan every year. The goal of the decree is to increase the role of science at the national level in Azerbaijan and surge the impact of its results on the peaceful and stable development of society. On this occasion, an online open door was organized at the Zoological Museum operating under the Institute of Zoology of ANAS. Thus, the director of the museum, Ph.D in Biology, Associate Professor Sabina Bunyatova has organized a live broadcast on the official Facebook page of the institute and gave detailed information about the exhibits exhibited in the museum. It focuses on the richness and diversity of exhibits in the fauna of Azerbaijan and the world, the lifestyle of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals on display, the current state of the population, its distribution, as well as the protection of rare and endangered species. She informed at length about the work done. In addition, a scientific seminar dedicated to "Science Day" was held at the institute. Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, a researcher Leyla Hasanova spoke on "The first molecular genetic research on the genus Microtus in Azerbaijan." The new haplotypes were described for five rodents of the genus Microtus caught in Azerbaijan, because of molecular genetic research, she noted. Information about these haplotypes will be posted in the GenBank database after publication in the articles.
