Institute of Zoology carried out an annual report meeting dedicated to the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities

On December 16, 2020, with the participation of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, the annual report meeting dedicated to the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS in 2020 was carried out. Opening the online meeting on the Zoom platform, ANAS Vice President, Academician Irada Huseynova greeted the participants and congratulated them on the great victory of our victorious army in the Great Patriotic War under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

Then Aladdin Eyvazov, Acting Director of the institute, Ph.D in Agrarian sciences asked for reporting. He noted that this year, 36 research works covering 3 problems and 10 topics in the field of "Research, restoration, protection and efficient use of biodiversity, soil and water resources, creation of databases" were carried out, of which 9 out of topics, 34 out of works and 36 of phases were completed. He noted that the planned research work has been completed. The speaker said that 62 articles, 24 theses, 1 book and 1 monograph (abroad) were conducted by the staff of the institute in the reporting year, of which 49 articles and 15 theses were published in foreign journals. 17 out of these articles were published in journals indexed in the “Web of Science and Scopus” scientific databases, adding that this year there were references to the scientific works of the institute's staff, and employees have repeatedly delivered lectures in domestic and foreign conferences. As a result of many years of research of the staff, the book dubbed “Taxonomic spectrum of Azerbaijani fauna (vertebrates)" was published, stated Aladdin Eyvazov. He informed about the contracts, grant projects, future plans and prospects signed this year, as well as emphasized the continuation of researches albeit the difficulties created by the pandemic conditions.

Finally, the report was widely discussed, questions were responded and suggestions were listened.

In conclusion, academicians Irada Huseynova, Valida Alizadeh, corresponding members of ANAS - Tofig Mammadov, Panah Muradov, Ilham Alakbarov, Doctors of Biological sciences Vahid Farzaliyev, Elshad Ahmadov, Shaig Ibrahimov, Giyas Guliyev and others highly appreciated presented results of the research work carried out by the institute staff during the year and made their recommendations to the management and employees.
