Doctor of Biological Sciences Elshad Ahmadov was introduced to the staff of the Institute of Zoology

On January 10, the first meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS was held this year.

The event was also attended by the vice-president of ANAS, a chairman of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences academician Irada Huseynova.

Speaking at the meeting, academician Irada Huseynova said that the former director of the institute, Dr. Elman Yusifov was dismissed at his own request. According to her, by the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the position of director of the Institute of Zoology was temporarily assigned to Elshad Ahmadov, Deputy Director for Science, Doctor of Biological Sciences Associate Professor.

Presenting Elshad Ahmadov to the staff, vice-president of ANAS spoke about his scientific activity and work experience. She noted that the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev attaches great importance to the development of zoological science in the country and characterized the appointment as an important step in this direction.

Academician Irada Huseynova emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific activity at the Institute of Zoology, conducting multidisciplinary research using modern methods, increasing the incomes generated by innovative activities and training of young specialists. She stressed out the activity on expanding international relations of the institute should be intensified. The scientist also spoke about the tasks before the new leadership of the Institute and gave relevant instructions regarding the next edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
