The next meeting of the Dissertation Council of the Institute of Zoology has been held

The next meeting of the D01071 Dissertation Council of the Institute operating under the Institute has been held. Scientific worker of the Institute of Zoology of the “Laboratory of the introduction of beneficial insects’’,Sheyda Mammadova's dissertation defence for the degree of PhD in Biology on "Parasitoid complex and species composition of leaf rollers (Lepidoptera:Tortricidae), causing damage to forest-fruit plants in the east of the Azerbaijan"  has been held.

Parasitoid complex and species composition of leaf rollers (Lepidoptera:Tortricidae), causing damage to forest-fruit plants in the east, north-east, east and south-east of the Azerbaijan have been researched by Sheyda Mammadova. During the research, 17 species of leaf rollers have been identified in 2 subfamilies of Tortricidae family, included in 14 genera. 3 species of them (Epinotia demarniana, Eudemis profundana, Cacoecimorpha pronubana), Caucasian, 2 types (Ptycholomcı lecheana, Hedy salicella) have been recorded for the first time in the fauna of Azerbaijan.  3 species of leaf-rollers- green oak-leaf roller (Tortrix viridana), rose leaf roller (Archips rosanus), bright gold leaf roller (Archips xylosteana) have been found that, they caused more damage. For the first time bioecological features of these species have been studied in detail, phenological calendar of species, relationships with foods, areas have been defined. In submitted dissertation work parasitoid complex, playing a role in reducing the number of them in nature have been studied as well as leaf-rollers.  Parasitoid complex, consisting of 67 species have been found in 8 species of 17 species of leaf-rollers, which play a main role in the number of natural regulation in nature. Of them 3 species to Diptera group's Tachinidae family, 26 species to Hymenoptera group's Chacidoidea superfamily, 22 species to Braconidae family, 15 species to Ichneumonidae family, a specie to Ceraphronidae family include. 15 species of researched parasitoid register in Azerbaijan for the first time.
