The next meeting of the Dissertation Council of the Institute of Zoology has been held

The next meeting of the D01071 Dissertation Council of the Institute operating under the Institute has been held. Junior scientific worker of the Institute of Zoology of the Laboratory Helmintology, Gara Huseyn Fataliyev's dissertation defence for the degree of the Doctor of Sciences in Biology on "Bioecological features and ways of forming helminthofauna of wild mammals (lagomorphs, rodents, predators, artiodactyls) in Azerbaijan" has been held. 

During the research in mammals 144  species of parasitic helminths, pertaining to 74 genera, 43 families, 9 units, 4 classes have been identified. There have been 13  species of trematodes, 30 species of cestodes, 3 species of acanthocephala, 98 species of nematodes. As a result  of research a specie of lagomorph, 18 species of helminths of them, 16 species of rodents group, 48 species of helminths of them, 12 species of predatory animals, 63 species of helminths of them, 3 types of cloven-hoofed animals, 35 species of helminths of them have been found. As a result  of research a specie of lagomorph, 18 species of helminths of them, 16 species of rodents group, 48 species of helminths of them, 12 species of predatory animals, 63 species of helminths of them, 3 types of cloven-hoofed animals, 35 species of helminths of them have been found.  Taxonomic category of species of predatory mammals have been listed with indication of units, their distribution in Azerbaijan, nutrition, lifestyle  and other bioecological features. It has been identified the degree of proliferation of helminths on landscape-ecological zones in a systematic way.

 It is said in the report, that 81 species of wild helminths in Azerbaijan, which are mentioned in wild mammals are the potential threat to humans and domestic animals.
