The next meeting of the Dissertation Council of the Institute of Zoology has been held
The next meeting of the D01071 Dissertation Council of the Institute operating under the Institute has been held. Junior scientific worker of the Institute of Zoology of the Laboratory Protistology, Turkan Gurbanova's dissertation defence for the degree of PhD in Biology on "The role of rodents in spreading of human's opportunistic disease-causing agents Coccidia (Apicomplexa, Cocidia) in urbanizing ecosystems" has been held. Scientific supervisor of this work is the Doctor of Biological Sciences H.D.Gaibova.
320 rodents belonging to 11 species have been researched by junior scientific worker. In faecal samples of 90 individuals' belonging to 7 species have been found oocysts- kind of Criptosporidum, which are agents of diseases associated with HIV. Kind of coccidians Musaev and Veisov 1963 have been found that this specie of coccidian is Polyxena, which was first found in common wood mouse (Apodemussulvaticus), as well as it has been found in the field mice. For the first time in Azerbaijan molecular - biological methods - amplifying DNA, PCR and sequencing has been created phylogenetic tree of Eimeria parasites. 2 kinds of gray rats has been found. They called them Eimeria sp.1 and Eimeria sp.2.
