The zoologist-scientist celebrates his 70 years

Well known scientist in the field of entomology, Barat Akhmedov, is 70 years old on February 18.

Barat Abdul Ahmedov was born in 1948 in Zangilan region. After graduating from the Pedagogical University in 1972, he was admitted to the post of senior researcher at the Laboratory of "Insects Ecology and Physiology" of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS.

In 1982 he defended his candidate dissertation on the topic "Phototermic reactions and ecological regulation of cotton fertilizers of Aphis gossypii Glov., successfully defended “Aphis craccivora Koch", Doctor of Biological Sciences Victor Petrovich Tishenko and Laboratory Director of the Institute of Zoology, doctor of biological sciences Professor Arifa khanum Abdinbeyova. He defined the role of temperatures, photoperiod and population density in the formation of polymorphisms for the first time not only in the republic, but also in the alliance, which clarified the degree of influence of these factors on the formation of winged individuals.

For the first time in the country, he studied the intensity of Oxygen exchange intensities by using an open monometric method in the insect (insects, cotton foxes, amphibian white daggers, etc.) and studied the effects of various environmental factors on intensity.

The results of its bioecological and physiological studies are reflected in more than 80 scientific works, most of which are published in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Saratov, Tbilisi, Germany, Turkey, India and others. in countries.

She trained at the Center for Biotechnology Skills for Specialists in Moscow State University in 1989, and successfully implemented educational and scientific programs related to "Cellular engineering".

In 1992 he was awarded the rank of the senior scientific worker of entomology by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. From 1986 to 2000 he worked as a senior research fellow at the Laboratory of Insects Ecology and Physiology, and since 2001 he has been working as laboratory director.

Under his leadership, 3 PhDs in biology successfully defended their dissertation.

He is currently the head of the "Applied Zoology Center" of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS, and successfully performs a number of public functions.
