A scientific session dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding composer Gara Garayev held

Azerbaijan Union of Composers held a scientific conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the world-famous composer Gara Garayev on February 8.

The event was attended by famous figures of culture and art of the republic.

Speaking at the conference, chairman of the Union of Composers, Corresponding Member of ANAS Firangiz Alizadeh spoke about the contributions of the outstanding composer Gara Garayev to the Azerbaijani musical culture. She noted that, the composer, whose work was based on rich national roots, was one of the persons who laid the foundation for a new stage in the development of Azerbaijani music.

F.Alizadeh noted: "No matter how much we talk about Gara Garaev, it's not enough. The work of the great composer was rich and varied. His composer school, articles and social activities can be the subject of research. The work done by people is not short-lived. He creates for ages. From this point of view, the life and work of the composer are an example for us. His high human qualities, creative talent shed light on the future of our music. Throughout his life he worked on the development of Azerbaijani music. He also deeply studied our mugams, ashug art and dedicated articles to them. We, as students of Gara Garayev, strive to continue his honorable mission".

Further at the conference were heard scientific reports on the merits of Gara Garayev in the history of Azerbaijani musical culture.
