Dissertation was defensed by the worker of the Institute of Zoology

The dissertation on the theme "Biodiversity and bioecological features of amphibians in the Azerbaijani part of the Greater Caucasus" was held at the Dissertation Council of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS by Gulbaniz Gasimova, a scientific worker of the laboratory of dry vertebrates.

The dissertation work of Gulbaniz Gasymova is dedicated to the study and conservation of biodiversity, one of the major issues facing modern ecology.

The researcher has identified eight species of amphibians spreading in the Greater Caucasus. An electronic cadastral map has been developed on the basis of the Geographical Information System of each type. A model of propagation of Pelodytes caucasicus by MaxEnt program, which is included in the "Red Book" of Azerbaijan and the BTN's "Red List" has been developed. It has been established that this type of accommodation is limited in the territory of Azerbaijan.

The author has studied the biochemical features of 8 species of amphibians, their distribution on landscape, biotopes and altitudes. The findings can be used as base information in the field of biodiversity conservation in the region.
