Annual Reports of the Laboratory of Applied Zoology and Dry Invertebrates were discussed at the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS

Annual reports of the Laboratory of Applied Zoology and Dry Invertebrates were discussed at the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Zoology of ANAS.

Head of the Center for Applied Zoology, PhD on Biology Barat Ahmedov gave detailed information about the scientific-organizational work carried out in the reporting year.

He said that during the current year, the Center's employees have been working on 8 research topics on the subject: "Modern state of farming species, investigation of ways to fight against pests, preparation of methods for artificial reproduction of some rare species". During the research, some scientific and practical significance results have been obtained that are expected to be applied in some farms in the future.

Doctor on biological sciences Khalid Aliyev noted that according to the scientific and presentation plan of the institute a research work on a subject was carried out in the laboratory in 2017. During the reporting period, 30 types of mowers, 10 species of moths, 15 species of flounder, 8 species of parabeds, 9 species of bees, 64 species of spiders and 12 species of foxes were registered in the surveyed regions. 3 species of spiders discovered during the study (Sybaema caucasicum Utotschkin, 1960; Rhysodromus rikhteri (Logunov & Huseynov, 2008), Zelotes khostensis Kovblyuk & Ponomarev, 2008), 1 species of fishing (Aceria tulipae (Keifer, 1938)) were new to the fauna of Azerbaijan. A new chapter in the Caucasus fauna, Erythraeidae, was also discovered during the gene-based research.

In the reporting year, 17 articles of the laboratory staff were published and 12 articles were submitted for publishing. 11 articles were published in abroad.

In the reporting year, Baydizade Narmin, a laboratory assistant of the Laboratory, was a winner of the grant on the theme "Evaluating the gene sycinas of gene types taking into consideration morphological features - Integrated (phyogenetic) taxonomy of the Tumor Tests" of the 8th Mobility Grant Competition, announced by the Science Development Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2017.
