Cytogenetic studies have firstly been launched on reptiles in the Dry VertebrateLaboratoryof the Institute of Zoology of ANAS.

The first researches were carried out on the Caucasian rock (Paralaudakia caucasia), Caucasian rocks lizard (Darevskia caucasica) and Dagestan lizard (Darevskia daghestanica) obtained from the territory of Julfa region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, under the guidance of Doctor on Biology Giyas Guliyev.

The aim of the study is to compare the carotype of individuals in isolated populations and to analyze the cytogenetic differences of species that generate hybrid individuals, which are partogenetic.

Note that the chromosome defects are removed from the red bone marrow cells. During the preparation of the prototype, the modified modification method of C.E.Ford and J. L. Haemerroto was used.

At present, researches are continuing.
