A scientific seminar has been held at the Institute of Zoology (ANAS) on 07.05.2015.

The senior scientific worker of the laboratory of “Herpetology”, Ph.D. in Biology T.Isgandarov’s report on “The usage of taxons’ scientific names, belonging to the fauna of Amphibians and reptiles in Azerbaijani” has been heard. The scientific taxonomic updates on the taxonomy of Amphibians and reptiles of the world and the Eurasian space, achieved in the last 25-30 years,  were taken into account in the report. Modern taxonomic spectrum of the fauna of Amphibians and Reptiles in Azerbaijan has been presented in the levels of group, family, genus, species and subspecies. The scientific names in Azerbaijani have been suggested to taxons of Amphibians and Reptiles (group, family, genus, species) according to the generally accepted principles of the international code of zoological nomenclature. Thus, existing deficiencies in the usage of scientific names of taxons in Azerbaijani were eliminated.
