ZOOLOGİCAL MUSEUM

Since the beginning of the XX century, samples collected by Azerbaijani and foreign scientists while studying the fauna of the Republic in the shape of collection materials in the laboratories of the Institute of Zoology, its storage and regular enrichment with new exhibits gave the basis for the establishment of the Zoological Museum. With the purpose of studying, preserving, and promoting biodiversity, Zoological Museum was established attached to Institute of Zoology in 1971 by the decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences.

Collection, protection, scientific research, promotion and demonstration of materials related to Azerbaijan and world fauna;

Provide scientific and methodological assistance to existing and newly created museums.

At present, the exposition fund of the Zoological Museum exhibits 1703 exhibits from the fauna of Azerbaijan and the world, consisting of scarecrows, skeletons, embalming, wet preparations and prepared in the form of a collection. 314 of them have been included in the museum's exposition fund for the last 10 years. Also, 257 of the exhibits belong to different classes of vertebrates. The collection fund of the Zoological Museum consists of 5984 bird embalming of 295 species.
